Fishing is hot in Aspen, Colorado this time of year. The sweet spot on the river is at the Roaring Fork and Fryingpan mid-day, when temperatures have warmed up and the trout are most active. In terms of the best fishing supplies for the job, anglers will wanat to go with a variety of midge larva, pupa, and dries as bait.

Medallion midges, Tidbit midges and gra y Johnny flashes are all excellent choices. Some exceptional dry fishing can also be had, especially on the Fryingpan. The three best dry baits to have are the hatching midge, Bill's midge emerger and Morgan's para midge. These tiny dries can be difficult to see, so you can also trail them behind a larger parachute dry fly as a visual strike indicator. Water flows have increased over the past week causing mysis shrimp to spill out of Ruedi, and as a result some very large fish have been caught over the past few days.
